Fine and Very Rare Miniature Copper-Glazed Redware Pitcher, Southern origin, probably Salem, NC or Southwestern VA, early 19th century, thin-walled, ovoid pitcher with footed base and wide collar, accented with tooled lines, the exterior surface covered in a mottled lead-and-copper glaze. Interior with clear, lead-glazed surface with light-orange coloration. The light-orange color of the interior is consistent with much of the lead-glazed redware produced in Salem, North Carolina, Southwestern Virginia, and Tennessee. Exceptional color, size, and condition. Provenance: Purchased by the consignor at an estate sale of a Southern Virginia family, along with a North Carolina table. A small chip to spout, a shallow rim chip, and other very minor rim wear. H 2 3/4".
