Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Churns, Midwestern origin, 19th century, a six-gallon example featuring a large brushed "6" with border and cobalt highlights to the front of the handles, paired with a three-gallon example with double-stemmed tulip motif below a brushed "3". Six-gallon churn with chips to one handle, an in-the-firing iron ping to interior of rim, traces of old paint (unrelated to restoration) to interior and shoulder, a 2 1/4" crack on underside, continuing 9 1/4" up side of churn below one handle, and some tight lines, which appear to remain in the surface. Three-gallon churn in excellent condition with two small chips to inner rim for lid.
