Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Clover Decoration, Stamped "P. HERRMANN", Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a split-stem clover motif. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Impressed with partially-stamped Peter Herrmann maker's mark at shoulder, only a quarter of the maker's mark being visible. A 1 1/4" chipped section to one handle. A thin, shallow 5/8" chip to opposite handle. Two minor, in-the-making rim chips.
