Rare and Fine Two-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Incised Grape and Floral Decoration, Connecticut origin, first quarter 19th century, ovoid pitcher with footed base with short collar, accented with tooled lines. Front of pitcher decorated with an incised design of a central flower with hanging grape clusters to the left and right. Collar decorated with drape cobalt swags. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: Collection of Harry Meyer, McDonald, PA. Spout and rim chips. Horizontal crack and chip in base of handle. Some small line in surface, which occurred in the firing. 1 3/4" hairline on underside, extending 2" up base of pitcher. 1" in-the-firing chip to left of handle. H 13 1/2".
