Shenandoah Valley Multi-Glazed Redware Spittoon, attributed to J. Eberly & Co., Strasburg, VA, circa 1890, cylindrical form with footed base, tooled midsection, and rounded shoulder with carved oval opening, the surface covered in cream-colored slip, decorated with splashed copper and manganese, and covered in a clear lead glaze. A nicely-glazed example of this form, which is often found with significant condition issues. Good condition with shallow base chips, some wear to opening at shoulder, and a few very minor surface flakes. A 1" x 1/8" piece of adhered in-the-firing clay to shoulder. H 3" ; Diameter 7 1/2".
