Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Canning Jar, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO'", PA origin, circa 1850-1880, cylindrical form with rounded shoulder and slightly-flared collar, the shoulder decorated with heavy cobalt sponging over a white slip coating. A 1 1/4" in-the-firing contact mark / surface chip to shoulder. Some lesser, in-the-firing contact marks to shoulder area. A 3/4" U-shaped surface crack to collar, not visible on interior. H 7 7/8".
