Fine Glazed Redware Butter Tub, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO'", PA origin, circa 1850-1880, cylindrical form resting on three feet, with tooled embellishments to body and open, rope-twist handles, the surface decorated with heavy manganese sponging over a light-orange ground and covered in a clear lead glaze. Impressed with John Bell maker's mark on underside. Desirable form and excellent color. Excellent condition with a small chip to two feet and some minor rim wear. H (including handles) 5 5/8" ; Diameter 8 1/2".
