Three-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Potted Plant Decoration, Stamped "CLARK & FOX / ATHENS", NY State origin, circa 1835, ovoid churn with tooled shoulder and applied lug handles, decorated at the shoulder with a stylized, brushed design of a plant emanating from a rectangular pot. Brushed cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. A few shallow chips and wear to interior of rim. Wear and shallow chipping to inner rim. Some light exfoliation to left side of churn. A tiny base chip. Some bubbling to cobalt.
