Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration and 1833 Date, Stamped "EATON & STOUT", South River, NJ origin, 1833, ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and semi-squared spout, decorated with an abstract brushed design of a flowering plant with curved stem. Additionally brushed in cobalt below the spout with the date, "1833". Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor decades ago. A horizontal crack through handle. A few minor base chips. Minor spout wear.
