Five-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug, Stamped "NB", Nelson Bass, Lincoln County, NC, circa 1880, ovoid jug with wide spout and ribbed strap handle, the surface covered in a glossy olive-green alkaline with heavy runs cascading from the shoulder. Incised on shoulder area of reverse with the number "5". Handle impressed "NB". Very nice condition with a professionally-restored 1" chip to spout above handle and a tiny handle nick.
