Ten-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "HAMILTON & JONES. / GREENSBORO. / PA", circa 1875, large-sized, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with freehand stripes and various stenciled geometric, floral, and foliate motifs, surrounding Hamilton & Jones maker's stenciling. Base with stenciled inscription "10 GALLON.", flanked by stenciled foliate motifs. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Significant restoration to jar. The majority of the cobalt decoration remains untouched. A chip to side of rim. H 20 3/4".
