Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Coggled Bird-and-Leaf Motif, attributed to Branch Green, Philadelphia, PA, early 19th century, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a coggled and cobalt-highlighted design featuring a bird with leaf in its beak. Tops of handles covered completely in cobalt slip. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor decades ago. Some scattered exfoliation to shoulder area. Two minor base nicks.
