Four-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Double-Bird Decoration, Stamped "S. HART. / FULTON", New York State origin, circa 1860, wide, ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of crossed birds with spotted body detail. Slip-trailed "4" to left of birds. An approximately 4 1/2" long T-shaped line on underside. An approximately 3" faint spider line at base on reverse. Some short, very faint lines to bottom edge of jug. Two short, very faint lines to side of spout. A 1 1/4" salt drip to shoulder on reverse. Some bubbling to cobalt.
