Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Canteen, Embossed "BARDWELL'S / ROOT BEER", attributed the Whites Pottery, Utica, NY, late 19th century, Bristol-slip-glazed canteen with cobalt highlights throughout, one side with relief decoration of running elk, the other side embossed "BARDWELL'S ROOT BEER" surrounding a floral motif. Fitted with a wire-and-wood bail handle. Excellent condition with minor flaws. Excellent condition with some spots of old yellow paint to right side of canteen. H (to top of spout) 11 1/4".
