One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG", PA origin, circa 1865, ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a large brushed design of a spitting tulip emanating from a leafy stem. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Tight crazing to base on reverse, probably in-the-firing. A 1 1/2" glazed-over, in-the-firing line to left of upper handle terminal. A 1 1/4" glazed-over, in-the-firing line to lower handle terminal.
