Rare Wing-Handled Redware Urn with Copper Decoration, Stamped "J. EBERLY & BRO. / STRASBURG, VA", circa 1885, ovoid urn with footed base, combed shoulder incising, and flared rim with coggled edge, the handles molded in the form of a large oval wings. Surface dipped in cream-colored slip and profusely-decorated on the front and reverse with brushed copper swag-and-floral motifs, each side having a slightly different design. Impressed under one handle with "J. EBERLY & BRO." maker's mark within an oval border. Original drain hole in underside. Provenance: From a Virginia estate. Significant restoration to rim, collar, and base.
