Scarce Seven-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Adam Keister, Strasburg, VA, circa 1850, ovoid jar with tall collar and applied lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a leafy stem bearing three, open-centered tulip blossoms. Exceptional size. Very nice condition with one small post-firing rim chip, one small in-the-firing rim chip, a small chip to shoulder molding, some fry to cobalt, some light wear to shoulder, and a minor stone ping and small piece of adhered clay to one side. H 16 1/2".
