Very Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Milkpan with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "R. BUTT / W. City DC", circa 1835, tapered pan with squared rim, applied tab handles, and pouring spout, decorated on the front with a swag and hanging flower motif. Impressed below the spout with the maker's mark of Washington, D.C. pottery owner, Richard Butt. One of a few examples of this form known by this maker. Several shallow rim chips. A few shallow chips to one handle. A 1 1/2" in-the-firing flake at base on reverse. A minor chip to underside at edge. A small in-the-firing stone ping to bottom edge.
