Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Maker's Mark Variant, Stamped Twice "T.R. WADDEL / VA", mid 19th century, ovoid jar with distinctive tooled rim and applied lug handles, featuring the maker's mark of Thomas R. Waddell at the shoulder on the front and reverse. The maker's mark on this jar is different than any other signed Waddell piece we have offered, featuring the name in a straight (as opposed to curved) stamp, additionally lacking the second "l" in the potter's last name. A 2" chip to exterior rim. A few small chips to interior of rim. A few very minor base chips. One side with stone ping to shoulder.
