Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug, Stamped "A. STATES", Adam States II, Stonington, CT origin, first quarter 19th century, ovoid jug with ribbed handle, heavily-tooled spout, and cobalt highlights to the maker's mark and handle terminals. Appealing drips of Albany slip are visible on the jug's front, created when the interior was lined prior to firing. A few shallow spout chips, one of which is glazed over. Two small surface flakes to handle, probably in-the-firing.
