Fine Glazed Redware Jug, New England origin, circa 1790-1830, highly-ovoid jug with footed base, thin strap handle, and semi-rounded spout molding, the surface covered in a lead glaze with reddish-brown manganese dip to spout and handle. A beautifully-glazed example, featuring light-yellowish-orange coloration that contrasts starkly with the darker-glazed accents to the spout and handle. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, consigned from Michigan. One spout chip. A few minor surface flakes. A small flake and tiny worn spot to handle. H 6".
