Fine Glazed Redware Spaniel Bank, attributed to George Wagner, Carbon County, PA, late 19th century, molded figure of a seated spaniel on slab base with applied coleslaw mane and tail tip, the surface covered in streaks of copper and manganese over light-orange clay, and covered in a heavy lead glaze. Face, locket, and paws with impressed or incised details. Carved slot in back. One of the best Wagner spaniel banks we have ever offered, exhibiting strong color and luster, and surviving in remarkable condition. Excellent condition with minor base wear and typical light wear to coleslaw. H 6 3/4".
