Four-Gallon Open-Handled Stoneware Jar with Incised Decoration, Manhattan, NY origin, early 19th century, ovoid jar with footed base, tooled shoulder, and open loop handles, decorated on the front and reverse with an incised and cobalt-highlighted garland design design. Areas below each handle decorated with an incised and cobalt-highlighted drape-and-tassel motif. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Scattered exfoliation to body. A few base chips. Very tight crazing to much of surface, not visible on interior. A few minor rim chips. Some staining to surface. Scratches to interior surface.
