Rare Salt-Glazed Stoneware Egg Bank, attributed to J. Swank & Co., Johnstown, PA, circa 1875, wheel-thrown bank in the form of an egg with carved coin slot. Provenance: Collection of Lorren Lambert, Staunton, VA. Literature: A closely-related example is illustated in the Johnstown Area Heritage Association exhibit catalog, "WHAT A CROCK!" Johnstown Potteries of the 19th Century. Excellent condition with some typical light chipping around slot. L 2 1/2".
