One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug, Stenciled "WILKINSON. & FLEMING / SHINNSTON. W VA.", circa 1875, cylindrical jug of unusual narrow-bodied form with tooled shoulder and spout, the front featuring the stenciled firm name, "WILKINSON. & FLEMING / SHINNSTON. WVA.", surrounded by foliate and geometric flourishes. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Exceptional, bullet-shaped form. Two spout chips. Two very minor spots of wear to underside at edge, probably in-the-firing.
