Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Incised Floral Decoration, Manhattan, NY origin, early 19th century, ovoid jar with footed base, tooled shoulder, and open loop handles, decorated on one side with a large incised and cobalt-highlighted floral motif featuring a daisy-like blossom. Reverse with an incised and cobalt-highlighted foliate motif in the Manhattan style. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor decades ago; Ex-Georgeanna Greer Collection. One handle restored with cracks along restoration lines. Significant cracks, one with small filled surface flake. Base chips, most of which are glazed over. Numerous small rim chips, primarily on interior of rim.
