Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "LYONS", Thompson Harrington, Lyons, NY, circa 1860, ovoid jug with tapered spout, the side of the jug formed with a circular bung hole at its base. Front decorated with a brushed foliate motif beside a cobalt "1". Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Includes wooden spigot. Scarce form and highly unusual size. Excellent condition with some short, faint lines in spout and a black marker notation on underside.
