One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO'", PA origin, circa 1850-1880, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and squared rim, decorated on the front and reverse with a large spotted tulip emanating from a leafy stem, applied over slip-coated clay. Impressed with John Bell maker's mark at shoulder. Provenance: Consigned from the Eastern Shore of Maryland. A Y-shaped line on underside, connecting to a second Y-shaped line at base area. A chip to exterior of rim and a minor chip to interior of rim.
