Scarce Miniature Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug, Inscribed "J.T", attributed to N.A. White & Son, Utica, NY, circa 1885, squat-shaped jug with tooled spout, decorated with a bold cobalt stripe below the initials, "J. T", along with heavy cobalt highlights to the spout and handle. The distinctive color of this jug, featuring brilliant cobalt slip over a tannish ground, leads to a strong attribution to N.A. White & Son of Utica, N.Y. An additional spot of cobalt is brushed on the underside. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 3 3/8".
