Fine Miniature Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Decoration, New York State origin, circa 1840, highly-ovoid jug with tooled spout, decorated with a brushed leaf or tree beside a stylized design loosely resembling a bird on stump. Cobalt highlights to spout and handle terminals. Exceptional size and appealing form. Provenance: Dr. Raymond L. Owen Collection. Excellent, as-made condition with some fry to cobalt on spout and minor bubbling to cobalt on handle terminals. H 2 3/4".
