Half-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug, Stamped "C. CROLIUS / MANUFACTURER, / NEW-YORK", circa 1820, highly-ovoid jug with heavily-tooled spout, decorated with a stylized drape-and-tassel motif. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Shoulder impressed with Clarkson Crolius, Sr. maker's mark. Desirable form and size. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. Two short, minor lines at base and a few minor base chips. H 9 1/4".
