Three-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stamped "C. CROLIUS / MANUFACTURER / NEW-YORK", Manhattan, NY origin, early 19th century, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and open loop handles, decorated with a brushed drape motif surrounding the maker's mark of Clarkson Crolius, Sr. Reverse with drape or "fish scale" motif, accented with spots. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a long-term private collection. Excellent condition with a glazed-over, in-the-firing base chip.
