Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Chicken-Pecking-Corn Decoration, New York State origin, circa 1880, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a chicken pecking kernels of corn from a stylized ground. Provenance: David Musser Collection. Excellent condition. Some in-the-firing mottling to clay and some fry to cobalt. A tiny glazed-over rim nick; a base nick.
