Fine Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Bird-on-Stump Decoration, Stamped "FULPER BROS. / FLEMINGTON, NJ", circa 1890, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder, applied lug handles, and squared rim, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a stump. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. A 4 3/8" crack from rim on reverse. A large L-shaped crack on underside, which continues 6 1/2" up side of jar, below one handle. A curving 6" hairline at base on reverse. A glazed-over handle chip. Rim chips. Typical light wear to inner rim for lid. Some in-the-firing chips to underside at edge. Some raised salt residue to side of jar at base.
