Rare Sewer Tile Tobacco Jar with Molded Bust of Will Rogers, Stamped "GENERAL CERAMICS CO. / NEW YORK CITY", circa 1925, barrel-form tobacco jar with incised staves and raised banding, the lid with molded finial in the form of Will Rogers (1879-1935), who produced the famous quip, "Our country has plenty of good five-cent cigars, but the trouble is they charge fifteen cents for them." Underside with General Ceramics Company maker's mark. Provenance: The Stradlings. Very nice condition with chips to interior of rim. H (including lid) 7 1/2".
