Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Philadelphia, PA origin, circa 1860, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and squared rim, decorated on three sides with a brushed clover motif. Shoulder decorated with a wavy line of cobalt. Unusual pinkish-cream-colored slip on interior. Incised "X" on underside. Three short lines from rim, measuring 1 1/2", 1 1/2", and 3/4". A 3" surface line extending from base, not visible on interior. A 7/8" line at base, not visible on interior.
