Four-Gallon Lidded Stoneware Water Cooler with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1875, cylindrical cooler with footed base, tooled shoulder, squared rim, and ribbed lug handles, decorated on the front with a two-stemmed flowering plant design and unusual wavy vine with leaves above. Reverse with additional wavy line decoration to shoulder. Cobalt highlights to bunghole and handle terminals. Lid with brushed swags and cobalt highlight around the knob. Cooler with a minor flaked spot to shoulder on reverse, a rim chip on reverse, an in-the-firing handle chip, which is glazed over, and a minor nick to bunghole. Lid with heavy chipping to knob.
