Very Rare Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Ink Sander, Inscribed "I.J", New York State origin, circa 1825, with footed base, tooled shoulder, and raised perforated top, the interior rim decorated with impressed circles. Surface covered in cobalt slip and overlying salt glaze. Underside incised "I.J" (?). Two small rim chips and a 7/8" rim chip. A small chip and nick to perforated top, both probably in-the-firing. One small glazed-over base chip. H 2 1/2".
