Small-Sized Stoneware Jar, Stamped "C. CROLIUS / MANUFACTURER / NEW-YORK", Manhattan, NY origin, early 19th century, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and narrow opening with thin rim, the surface covered in a reddish-brown Albany slip glaze. Shoulder with impressed oval Crolius maker's mark. Desirable size. Significantly rarer than Crolius's salt-glazed products. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor decades ago. Very nice condition with a small chip to exterior of rim, a stone ping to interior of rim, a second, tiny in-the-firing ping to interior of rim, and some minor, expected wear to edge of shoulder. H 7 7/8".
