One-Gallon Lidded Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX. / HARRISBURG . PA", circa 1865, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, flared collar, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed daisy plant featuring a large blossom and bud emanating from a leafy base. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Includes original lid. Jar with two hairlines on side, extending from rim to shoulder. A chip to exterior of rim. Two small chips to interior of rim and wear to inner rim where a lid would rest. A 3 3/4" chipped and heavily-exfoliated section to edge of lid. Additional exfoliation to lid.
