Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "UNION POTTERY / NEWARK, N.J. /J. ZIPF, Propr", circa 1880, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed design of three tulips emanating from a central stem. Slip-trailed "3." over maker's mark. An 8 1/2" crack on reverse, extending onto underside where it forms a large Y. A salt drip to shoulder on reverse.
