Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Paddletail Bird Decoration, Stamped "N.A. WHITE & SON, / UTICA, N.Y.", circa 1885, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed design of a bird with paddle-shaped tail, perched on a flowering vine. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Provenance: Robert Meltzer Collection. Excellent, essentially as-made condition.
