Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. & E. NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT.", circa 1855, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed floral motif accented with spotted trails. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Provenance: Dr. Raymond L. Owen Collection. Two chips to interior of rim. Shallow chipping to inner rim where a lid would rest. One handle with three minor chips and a 1 1/4" line along top.
