Very Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Incised Wreath Decoration, Stamped "WAIT", Obediah and Luke Wait, Whately, MA, early 19th century, ovoid jug with footed base and heavily-tooled spout, featuring an incised wreath design surrounding the impressed maker's mark, "WAIT". This jug is the first example of Whately stoneware we have offered bearing this mark. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor decades ago. Base chips. Otherwise excellent, as-made condition with some small, typical firing flaws to surface.
