Rare Half-Gallon Stoneware Advertising Jug with Incised Federal Eagle Decoration, New York State origin, Dated 1872, cylindrical jug with tooled spout, decorated with an incised and cobalt-highlighted design of a Federal eagle holding a banner in its beak, dated 1872. Incised above with the cobalt-highlighted inscription, "1/2 gal / M. Farrell & Co. / 95 Haverhill St.". Additionally incised with a script "C" on underside. Provenance: Robert Meltzer Collection. Some light chipping to spout and a faint 3/4" surface line to spout. A few small stone pings to surface. H 9 3/4".
