Shenandoah Valley Glazed Redware Jar, Stamped "S. BELL & SON. / STRASBURG", VA origin, circa 1890, ovoid jar with deeply-coggled rim, the surface dipped in cream-colored slip, decorated with streaks of manganese, and covered in a clear lead glaze. Impressed with S. Bell & Son maker's mark at shoulder. Provenance: The Stradlings. A chip and minor nick to interior of rim. Some wear to rim. A small base chip and other minor base wear. Some small flecks of glaze loss to surface. Two glaze scratches to base area. Some glaze exfoliation to interior base. H 9 1/2".
