Four-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Incised Floral Decoration, Connecticut origin, early 19th century, ovoid jug with footed base and heavily-tooled spout, featuring an incised design of a tulip plant with large leaves, looping base, and impressed circular accents throughout. Haphazard cobalt highlight to decoration. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A filled 2" x 1 1/4" chip to handle near lower terminal. A 2" crack on underside, continuing 8" up side of jug. A few small base chips, one of which is glazed over.
