Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "W. ROBERTS BINGHAMTON," New York State origin, circa 1870, cylindrical jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a large bird with striped and spotted accents to the body, perched on a flowering branch. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Some streaks of amber-colored staining to surface and a smaller, dark-colored stain to reverse. Otherwise excellent condition.
