Two Stoneware Jars, New Jersey and Pennsylvania origin, 19th century, a black-painted, ovoid jar, impressed "J. EATON", South River, NJ origin, secon quarter 19th century; paired with a one-gallon jar with cobalt floral decoration, attributed to the Remmey Pottery, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1870. Eaton jar with exfoliation and a possible crack visible under paint, the entire condition being unknown due to the later painted surface. Remmey jar with a small in-the-firing base chip, a few minor rim chips, and an in-the-firing burn to reverse.
