Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Chicken Pecking Corn Decoration, Stamped "G.W. FULPER & BROS., / FLEMINGTON, N.J.", circa 1880, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with slip-trailed design of a chicken pecking kernels of corn from a stylized ground. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Reverse with a 9" crack descending from a 7/8" chip on rim. Some very light exfoliation to reverse and a minor flake to right side of crock's front. Small shallow chips around interior of rim. A crack extending across underside and 8" up left side of crock. A 3" Y-shaped line on underside. A small chip and minor wear to left handle. Some staining.
